Playing Adult

I mentioned in Finally a Trip to Ithaca, NY that I couldn’t wait to get back to Ithaca. That happened much quicker than I expected…my MIL came into town last week so Chris and I decided to capitalize on her being here and make a weekend trip up north. There was a house we wereContinue reading “Playing Adult”

From Hero to Zero

I’m a Marine. I decided I wanted to be a Marine when I was 12 years old, and I worked unbelievably hard to make it to where I am (more on that in a later post). I put the Marine Corps ahead of pretty much everything else in my life for well over a decade.Continue reading “From Hero to Zero”

My First Boob Squish

I had my first boob squish today…you might know that as a mammogram. I recently stopped nursing Graycie and noticed some lumps shortly after. They didn’t change for a bit, so figured I should get checked out. Everything is good—no abnormalities on the boob squish or the follow-up ultrasound. It was an interesting experience though.Continue reading “My First Boob Squish”

Trials and Tribulations: month vs Month

This year marks 13 years since losing my dad and two sisters in a murder/suicide. It took me until last year to finally ask for help dealing with the incident. It’s never too late to start addressing issues and taking care of yourself…you deserve to feel safe, healthy, and joyful no matter what you’ve beenContinue reading “Trials and Tribulations: month vs Month”

Medical, Medical Everywhere!

I’ve had a lot of fun with medical stuff the last few years. It just keeps going too. Doesn’t help either that I have some legit anxiety that leads to a bit of hypochondria, so there is definitely a mix of physical symptoms mixed with psychosomatic symptom…it’s a fun combination 😂 I’m writing this forContinue reading “Medical, Medical Everywhere!”

Just be a Tool, it’s OK (sometimes)

I’ve been very conscious recently to not use “but” as much when referring to my kids. I think everyone does it… “I love my kids…but…XYZ” Instead, I say “and.” “I love my kids AND they can be tools.” True statement, but no need for a “but.” They happen simultaneously, the love and toolishness. It happens.Continue reading “Just be a Tool, it’s OK (sometimes)”

Happy Hump Day #2

It’s spring break for Emma so I’m teleworking all week trying to give Chris a chance to work in-between my appointments. I really wanted to get the kids out of the house yesterday evening to look at the cherry blossoms around the neighborhood, so I posted a wear-a-Halloween-costume-and-walk-the-neighborhood-while-doing-a-scavenger-hunt meet-up because that’s what made sense 🤷‍♀️Continue reading “Happy Hump Day #2”

Teleworking with Kids

If anyone is curious, this is what teleworking with a small kid looks like. On telework days I rarely get much done. I usually set the goal to turn my computer on by lunch…that’s what my work-life has turned into. Not complaining though. I went from 60-80 hour work weeks, 100-150 emails a day, andContinue reading “Teleworking with Kids”
