Playing Adult

I mentioned in Finally a Trip to Ithaca, NY that I couldn’t wait to get back to Ithaca. That happened much quicker than I expected…my MIL came into town last week so Chris and I decided to capitalize on her being here and make a weekend trip up north. There was a house we wereContinue reading “Playing Adult”

My Girl is in Boy Scouts…

Today I took Emma to her first Cub Scout meeting. Not something I ever thought I’d say. I remember being a little older than her and in Girl Scouts and wanting to be a Boy Scout. I loved my troop, but the boys camped more, and hiked, and it seemed like they did cooler stuff,Continue reading “My Girl is in Boy Scouts…”

I Pay for Chicken Practice?

Today was a monumental day in the Falcon household…the girls started soccer!! Now I should have read the fine print, because I thought my kids started playing soccer on a team today, but it turns out it’s just skills. So no teamwork. And the parents are supposed to be involved—even with the older kids. SoContinue reading “I Pay for Chicken Practice?”

Just be a Tool, it’s OK (sometimes)

I’ve been very conscious recently to not use “but” as much when referring to my kids. I think everyone does it… “I love my kids…but…XYZ” Instead, I say “and.” “I love my kids AND they can be tools.” True statement, but no need for a “but.” They happen simultaneously, the love and toolishness. Happy Hump Day #2

It’s spring break for Emma so I’m teleworking all week trying to give Chris a chance to work in-between my appointments. I really wanted to get the kids out of the house yesterday evening to look at the cherry blossoms around the neighborhood, so I posted a wear-a-Halloween-costume-and-walk-the-neighborhood-while-doing-a-scavenger-hunt meet-up because that’s what made sense 🤷‍♀️Continue reading “Happy Hump Day #2”

Travel Log: Iejima, Okinawa, Japan

One thing I didn’t do as much of as I would have liked while living in Okinawa was visit the smaller Okinawa Prefecture islands. 2020 was the year!! But then…COVID restricted us to big Oki until our move back to the USA and we missed our chance. For Chris’ 40th birthday in May 2019 weContinue reading “Travel Log: Iejima, Okinawa, Japan”

Teleworking with Kids

If anyone is curious, this is what teleworking with a small kid looks like. On telework days I rarely get much done. I usually set the goal to turn my computer on by lunch…that’s what my work-life has turned into. Not complaining though. I went from 60-80 hour work weeks, 100-150 emails a day, andContinue reading “Teleworking with Kids”
