Homeschool for the Win!

I mentioned in Homeschool, shmomeschool! that I never thought I would be a homeschool mom. If anything, I was on the anti-homeschool side.

I seriously love this. I’m hoping I can fill these last few months with lots of fun stuff and maybe…just maybe…Emma will asked to be homeschooled again once I’m done with my MBA in 2024.

We’ve really balanced out our schedule this semester. Swim lessons, dance lessons, the learning farm, the Science Center, homeschool co-op, church, and outside survival camp (Emma only for the last one).

I’m not overwhelmed with our schedule—we’ve got plenty of free time and traditional(ish) homeschool time scheduled in. It does take me a ton of will-power to not completely overwhelm our every minute, but I feel like we’ve got a good thing going right now.

Emma still complains a lot about wanting to go to school, but she is also starting to realize a lot of the fun things she loves doing right now are only an option because she homeschools. She is thriving, especially with reading and history.

G still isn’t super interested in “school,” but we’re getting there. She can verbally spell her name, and even write it if she’s looking at an example, and is slowly starting to recognize letters. She’s more and more interested in listening to books and she loves “writing,” which is looking more and more like actual letters. Her imagination has grown so much this year!

Can’t wait to see what the next few months hold for us!

Love others. Love self. Love coffee.
